• 8th Annual Hike for Charity – Register by April 30 and Save $10

    Register for the 8th annual Hike for Charity by April 30 and save $10. The event benefits Kinship Center, Voices for Children-CASA, and Hospice Giving Foundation, and takes place Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Toro Regional Park. Registration is now available at www.hikeforcharity.com . Day of event registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Buckeye Picnic Area in Toro Park. A family-friendly event, the “Hike” includes three separate trail routes welcoming hikers of all levels.

    All proceeds support critical services for children in Monterey County.

    Hikers are requested to raise funds for the charities of their choice and encouraged to form hike teams to help build event success.

    Hikers can register at www.hikeforcharity.com . Cost through April 30 is $30 for adults and $15 for ages 17 and younger. On May 1 event registration increases to $40 for adults.

    The advanced “extreme” hike (10 miles, 2,600 foot elevation gain to the top of Black Mountain, min. age 12) starts at 8 a.m.; the moderate hike (2.5-3 miles, 1,000 foot elevation gain, ages 6 and up) starts at 10:30 a.m. and a beginner’s one-mile hike (1 mile, flat terrain) begins at 11 a.m.

    Registrants will receive a T-shirt and one free raffle ticket for a special giveaway as well as snacks in the morning and a BBQ lunch at the end of the hike.
