SUMMARY: The boys race was essentially a battle between King City and Pacific Grove with King City taking control early and winning with room to spare. The Boys Champion, Edgar Bonilla of King City, was never really challenged. The girls race was a three team affair, with Pacific Grove, Santa Catalina, and Greenfield running impressively; watching the race it was hard to tell who was going to come out on top but Pacific Grove prevailed by a narrow margin. The Girls Champion, Maddie McKenzie of Carmel, was in a very tight race with Christina Hashimoto of Pacific Grove with 400 meter to go. Maddie finished strongly to seal the win. Jocelyn Sosa of Greenfield was a strong third. In my opinion Kaitlin Alt’s strong 5th place finish was the key to Pacific Grove’s team victory.
