• Baseball: Breakers Open up CCS Division II Playoffs at Monterey

Led by seniors, Chris Fife and Anthony Coppla, the Breakers will open the 2015 CCS Division II Playoffs on the road against Monterey.

The Toreadors finished third in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division, with an overall record of 15-12. Leading the way for Monterey, is third baseman David Gugale. Gugale leads the team with 28 hits, 10 doubles, and 16 RBI’s.

It has been seven years since the last time these two teams faced off, with Monterey winning that contest 5-4.

While Monterey gets the higher seed, Pacific Grove has played well on the road this season, going 9-4. The Breakers also played in the highly competitive Boras Classic. Pacific Grove only went 1-3, but they played against other highly talented teams, and easily could have won two or three games.

#9 seed Pacific Grove (20-8, 15-3) will play at the #8 seed Monterey (15-12, 10-8) on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. The game will be played at Sollecito Field.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
