• Bear sighted in Pacific Grove, Tranquilized

At 5:30 this morning (Sun. June 14) a bear was sighted in the area of Lighthouse & Cypress. PG officers located and followed it, then did what any intelligent PGPD officer would do — chased it into Monterey. This was at David Ave. Monterey and PG officers followed it as it roamed through back yards and when CA Fish & Wildlife arrived, they tranquilized it at around Prescott and took it away. It appeared to be about 250 pounds. Here is a safe and sane shot of the bear, taken from a PG patrol car. More later.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
