• Bicyclist Collides with Car in Pacific Grove

    On Mon., Oct. 7 at about 12:23 p.m. Pacific Grove Police, Monterey Fire personnel, and AMR Ambulance responded to an injury accident involving a bicyclist and an automobile on Central Ave. at 14th Street in Pacific Grove.

    Officers found a 33-year-old female Monterey resident suffering from a laceration above her left eye. Medical personnel also determined that the victim also suffered additional head trauma and she was transported to the Monterey Airport where she was airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Hospital personnel have confirmed that she was admitted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    Investigators determined that the woman was riding her bicycle without a helmet eastbound on Central Ave., approaching 14th St., when she collided with the rear of a 2005 Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old Salinas resident, had come to a complete stop and was yielding right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing Central Avenue

    The members of the Pacific Grove Police Department remind bicyclists to wear helmets, obey the rules of the road, and stay alert to their surroundings. Drivers of other vehicles are encouraged to be aware of bicyclists.
