• Breakers Lose Back to Back Games

After starting off the season 4-0, the Breakers have lost two straight games to fall to 4-2. Pacific Grove took a one point lead into halftime over Menlo-Atherton on Tuesday night, but couldn’t keep it going as the Bears were able to win the game 52-39. [12-30-14]

The Breakers started out fast against the Bears, jumping out to an 11-4 lead early in the first quarter. Menlo-Atherton though, was able bring the score within three late in the quarter. A basket by Josh Wren and free-throws by Ube Echo were able to extend the Breaker lead to seven at the end of one quarter of play.

To start the second quarter, Menlo-Atherton went on an 8-0 run to get their first lead of the game, 16-15. However, Brad Sendell scored 6 points and had 2 steals in the second quarter for the Breakers to help them keep a one point lead going into the half.

Zack Miller came out and scored the first 5 points of the third quarter for the Breakers to help extend their lead to 29-23. After a Chip Wagner basket put the Breakers up 31-25, the Bears used a 13-1 run to close the third quarter and take a 38-32 lead into the fourth.

A steal, a free throw, and a 3-point basket by Brad Sendell to start the fourth quarter brought the Breakers within 2 points. However, the Bears made three straight 3-pointers to open the game up and give themselves an 11 point lead with only 3:52 left in the game. The Breakers would not get any closer as Menlo-Atherton was able to close out the game and secure the victory.

After averaging 19 points through the first four games of the season, all wins, Brad Sendell has only averaged 9 points in the Breakers two losses. The Breakers (4-2) will look to rebound at home against Seaside (2-4) on Friday, January 02, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.
