Vandalism at the Carmel Mission
Sometime between the night of Saturday, September 26, 2015, and the morning of Sunday, September 27, 2015, an unknown number of individuals vandalized numerous statues, gravesites, doorways and a fountain at the San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission (Carmel Mission, 3080 Rio Road, Carmel). Fire Suicide ID’ed
The Monterey County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in the Tassajara Fire in a burning car as Stephen McAlpine, 66, of Monterey. No exact cause of death has been released as yet.
His family is reported to have written that he struggled with mental illness.
Speculation has it that his suicide was the cause of the fire but we await further details.

Public’s Help Sought Re Dead Body Found
On Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 1:30PM, Monterey Police officers responded to a report of a deceased body located in the wooded area in the 400 block of English near Laguna Grande Park. The deceased is an adult male. Officers notified the Monterey County Sheriff’s Coroner Unit who responded to the scene. This investigation is ongoing.

Missing Santa Cruz Woman’s Truck Found in Big Sur
Maria Boisa, 32, of Santa Cruz was last seen on
May 12 in Santa Cruz County. She was reported missing by her sister on May 27.
Investigators say the first clue to Maria Boisa’s whereabouts came Wednesday when her red pickup truck was found at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur, parked at a turnout for McWay Falls.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said Boisa suffers from medical issues that place her at risk.

Suspects Try To Tow Away ATM Machine
Unknown suspects broke into the ARCO Service Station at Highway 101 and Vierra Canyon in Prunedale. They attempted to remove the ATM machine by hooking it up to a Ford van with the company U-Haul logo on the van. The suspects were unsuccessful in removing the ATM.
Monterey County Sheriffs investigators believe they damaged the right rear portion of the bumper while attempting to remove the ATM. The van was last seen heading north on Highway 101. The suspects were gloved and masked. From the video surveillance there appeared to be three suspects.
A BOL was placed to all surrounding agencies. The case remains under investigation.
