• Lovers Point New Kid Pool Ribbon Cutting

He stood on a chair with his camera 8 feet in the air to get 38 seconds of video, but Cy Colburn got us a great shot of the ribbon-cutting for the new children’s pool, Stillwell Children’s Pool at Lovers Point. A few minutes later, Wendi Giles and Dave Salinger’s child was the first child in — the ceremonial “first dip” — and then it was free for all. The pool, built entirely with donations in the amount of $280,000 + including $100,000 in matching funds from the Stillwell family, replaces the saltwater pool that had fallen into disrepair. It will be open until September and is administered by the city of Pacific Grove Recreation Department. Cost is $2 per person on weekdays, $4 per person on weekends and holidays. The pool is open from noon until 4:30 p.m. And thanks again, CY!

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
