Approved a contract with Graham Contractors for street maintenance work—including
crack sealing and slurry sealing—for a second set of City streets, the first set of street
having been addressed earlier this year. The work will occur mostly in the downtown
areas and will be undertaken in September and October.
Approved the quarterly treasurer’s report, indicating that all of the City’s invested funds
are in insured accounts and are appropriately laddered to ensure the City can meet its
cash flow needs and contingencies.
Held first reading of a reusable bag ordinance that would ban single-use plastic bags of
less than 4.0 mils and impose a 10-cent fee for paper bags.
Considered adopting a 15-year franchise agreement for the collection of refuse, recycling,
yard waste, and kitchen scraps, with Green Waste Recovery. Council questions will be
addressed and be brought back to the Council at its next meeting, on August 20, 2014.
