• Major actions taken by the Council at its regular meeting on March 15, 2017 include:

    Presented William Crandell with a service award in honor of his 15 years of service to the City of Pacific Grove.

    Honored Sand City Mayor David Pendergrass with a proclamation for his service to the City of Sand City and the region for his 30 plus year public service career.

    Received an Oceanview / Recreation Trail Beautification update.

    Approved a resolution appointing the City Manager to execute in the name of the City of Pacific Grove all grant documents related to additional recycling receptacles.

    Adopted a resolution to acknowledge completion of the Pacific Grove Urban Greening Plan and directed staff to submit the final payment request.

    Held second reading of an ordinance to modify the salary range for Recreation Coordinator and approved the Salary Classification Schedule amendment.

    Received a report on the status of the City’s water reserves per the December 2016 MPWMD monthly allocation report.

    Authorized the City Manager to amend the Professional Services Agreement with Client First Technology Consulting to provide technology consulting services, extending the agreement date through June 30, 2017 in an amended amount not to exceed $9,000 (total amended contract value will be $39,000).

    Approved the Nomination of Marietta Bain to the Economic Development Commission.

    Received various Boards and Commissions minutes.

    Introduced and held first reading of an ordinance to authorize a lease with Keystone America Inc. (known as the Paul Mortuary) to operate the Little Chapel by the Sea and Crematorium (The Little Chapel) for a term of five years and directed publication of the ordinance be satisfied by publication.

    Approved a Resolution of Intent to amend the City’s CalPERS contract for Police Officer Association employees to provide the Government Code §20516 employee sharing additional cost, introduced and held first reading of an ordinance to amend the CalPERS contract, and directed publication of a summary of the ordinance.

    Continued to a future meeting the first reading of an ordinance to amend Chapters 10.08 and 10.10 and sections 10.04.190 and 14.080.030 of the PGMC pertaining to animals to a future meeting.

    Direct staff to bring back an ordinance authorizing the City’s participation in the Monterey Bay Community Power Joint Powers Authority.

    Authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Karin Payson Architecture and Design to develop construction drawings to be used to generate construction documents for the Interior Remodel of the Pacific Grove Library Project at a cost not to exceed $95,500, plus a 15% contingency.

    Directed the City Manager to finalize drafting of the City Council’s Refined Goals, and Proposed Values, Vision and Mission Statements, and to bring back a corresponding work plan for the City Council to review and consider.

    Adjourned the meeting in honor of former Mayor Morrie Fisher, who passed away this week. Former Mayor Fisher’s services were held today at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea, and at the El Carmelo Cemetery. Those interested in honoring former Mayor Morrie Fischer may make a donation, in lieu of flowers, to the PG Alumni Association, and/or the PG Knockout at P.O. Box 51396, Pacific Grove, or, the National Autism Association, at One Park Avenue, Suite 1, Portsmouth, RI, 02871.
