• Monterey Buttons Up for Bernie

Tuesday, May 31 Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will hold a rally at 7 p.m. on the lawn in front of Colton Hall.

Due to security requirements for this event, Pacific Street will be closed between Jefferson and Madison streets from 6 a.m. to midnight. Parking will be limited around City Hall and City offices immediately adjacent to Colton Hall lawn will close at 2 p.m. These offices include City Clerk, Building, Planning, Colton Hall Museum, Engineering, Public Works and the City Manager’s Office. Some City services are available online and by phone.

Most City buildings will remain open including the Library, 735 Pacific Street, the City Attorney’s Office, Community Centers, Monterey Sports Center and the Recreation Division office.

City Manager Mike McCarthy said, “Please know that this event does not in any way indicate an endorsement of a candidate and that the City is simply providing a venue for this event as we are doing the previous day for the Monterey Pops Memorial Day concert.”

Updates as they become available will be available on the City’s website at monterey.org.
