• Monterey Fire Gets a Training Officer

On Monday, February 9, 2015, the Monterey Fire Department announced Captain Jeff Field as the new Training Officer to fill a position recently approved by Monterey City Council. The Department had lost the position due to budget constraints in 2010. This will fill an extremely important role which will coordinate and facilitate much of the already conducted training and to supplement training necessary to meet needs of the Department. Captain Field brings to this position a wealth of experience and talent that will strengthen the training program.

He will develop a training plan and provide the logistical support as well as coordination to deliver that plan. Jeff will ensure that the Department stays current with state and federally mandated training as well as keep up with required certifications for various programs. Captain Field will continue to respond on incidents as requested by Incident Commanders and assist in the capacity of Safety Officer or as otherwise assigned. He may also respond to observe operations to help him identify training needs. Please join us in congratulating Captain Field!

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
