• New Captain announced by Mo. Co. DA

Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced the appointment of Investigator Jorge Ramirez to the position of Captain for the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.

Captain Ramirez was born in Guatemala and moved to Daly City at a young age. In 1997, he joined the Hollister Police Department and worked as a police officer, detective, sergeant, and later promoted to Sergeant of the Detective Unit.

During his law enforcement career, he continued his education and earned his Master’s Degree in Administration of Justice, along with numerous peace officer accreditations and certificates in the areas of teaching, investigations, and leadership.

In 2011, he joined the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office and has worked as a lead investigator on countless cases to include molestations, gang prosecutions, homicides, officer involved shootings, attempted murders and public corruption.

In 2014, Captain Ramirez was honored by the Monterey County Peace Officer Association as an “Officer of the Year” recipient. Given his wide breadth of knowledge, he has given various trainings to colleagues and outside agencies and recently, certified one of the first state mandated trainings on LGBTQ+ awareness and has trained hundreds of members of the law enforcement community, always receiving outstanding feedback.

District Attorney Pacioni stated that “Captain Ramirez’s life experiences and leadership abilities makes him a perfect addition to our management team.”

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
