• Pacific Grove Author Honored

    by Cameron Douglas

A capacity crowd came to honor Pacific Grove author Dorothy Dean Stevens during her book signing at the Mayo Hayes O’Donnell Research Library on March 14 in Monterey.
“Oh, for goodness sake,” Dorothy exclaimed, as she reconnected with dozens of old friends. Four generations of family members – including eight great-grandchildren – showed up for the happy occasion. Dorothy’s sons John and Alan greeted guests, while library docents Frances Spradlin, Elaine Dutra, Eleanor Avila and Faye Messinger served wine and hors d’oeuvres.
Dorothy’s book, “Dancing Through Life on the Monterey Peninsula and Beyond,” tells the story of her life as a student and teacher of dance. She operated the Dorothy Dean School of Dance in Monterey for 20 years, leaving her indelible mark on the Monterey Peninsula…and beyond!
