7:45 AM #SobranesFire (Garapata ) is hard to come by – CalFire has not updated yet this morning. An individual blogger said at about midnight that the Palo Colorado Canyon and surrounding neighborhoods, including Long Ridge and Green Ridge, are being evacuated and that structure protection groups are responding in case the fire makes it into inhabited zones.

Big Sur Kate said at 6:30 the fire was at 2,000 acres and threatening at least one structure. The Boy Scout Camp at Camp Pico Blanco, she says, is sheltering in place with MSCA, Cal Fire, Ham operator. More dramatic photos at bigsurkate.wordpress.com. SPCA says it has now six cats that have been evacuated and are preparing for more. The Red Cross shelter is at Carmel Middle School.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
