• Softball: Pacific Grove Wins Their Third Game in a Row

Pacific Grove (5-2, 1-0) got off to the right foot in their first MTAL game of the season, with a 5-4 victory at Stevenson on Tuesday evening.

The Breakers have been much improved this season from the team that went 3-9 in league play and 6-20 overall.

A lot of it has to do with its pitching. This year, the team added Parker Llantero and Cameryn Shoemaker – both freshmen – who have both pitched well to start the season. Last year Sofia Baker, who was a freshman, was really their only pitcher. With different options on the mound, the Breakers find themselves in a good spot.

Leading the Breakers in victory was Christina Lucido and Rachel Consiglio, who both had two RBI’s.

Freshman pitcher, Parker Llantero, racked up seven strikeouts on her way to her second straight victory.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
