FIRST NIGHT MONTEREY, NEW YEAR’S EVE
The 24th annual First Night Monterey community celebration of the arts will take place on Saturday, December 31st from 3 p.m. to midnight. This alcohol-free family New Year’s Eve celebration features a procession, live music and interactive art activities in downtown Monterey at both inside and outside locations all within walking distance. Indoor venues include a few business locations on Alvarado Street, the MIIS Irvine Auditorium, Golden State Theatre, Monterey Museum of Art, Masonic Lodge and the City Council Chambers. Event kicks off on Colton Lawn at 3 p.m.
First Night Monterey festivities will close the following streets:
- Pacific Street, between Madison St. and Jefferson St., from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Alvarado Street from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- Bonifacio Place, between Alvarado St. and Tyler St., from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- Franklin Street, between Calle Principal and Tyler St., from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Event parking is available in the downtown Monterey garages, and MIIS and City Hall parking lots. First Night Monterey is also partnering with MST to provide a Park and Ride program. Park near the Macy’s Furniture store at Del Monte Center and MST buses will pick you up on a regular schedule from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.
