• Traffic tie-ups next week on David and Prescott in Monterey

Measure P road work on sections of David Avenue and Prescott Street will re-route traffic temporarily in the area next week. David Avenue from Divisadero to Grace will be impacted on Wednesday, June 10.  Prescott Street from Divisadero to Taylor will be affected on Thursday, June 11.  Some side streets in area also will get road treatments.

Construction crews will be applying slurry seal, which is a thin maintenance treatment consisting of a mixture of asphalt emulsions, graded aggregates, mineral fillers, water and other additives.

Anyone living, working or commuting in an area scheduled for street improvements may be affected in the following ways:

    ·        On-street parking may be restricted
    ·        Streets may be closed and detours may be in place
    ·        Sidewalks at intersections may be closed

The road work is part of a four-year street repair and maintenance project funded by the citizens through the Measure P one-cent increase in the sales tax. Project updates, maps, and schedules are available on the web at monterey.org/fixingstreets.  Citizens with questions can call 646-3448.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
