• Update on grocery store union negotiations.

In response to the receipt by UFCW Locals 5, 8 and 648 of what Save Mart has characterized as its “last best and final” offer the unions have agreed to meet with the company on Tuesday June 12. “At that meeting, we will present the company with a comprehensive settlement proposal that we will be willing to recommend for membership ratification,” said a union spokesperson. “The proposal will include the stated bargaining priorities the unions have had since the beginning of negotiations: affordable health care, better shift selection language and more full time positions for senior employees.”
Talks with Raley’s-Nob Hill will be held with the federal mediator today, June 11 in Oakland. The membership will be notified at the conclusion of the meeting what transpired. Talks with Safeway continued on Wednesday and Thursday June 6 and 7.
