On November 9th, 2015, at 8:25 PM, a robbery occurred at Via Paraiso Park in Monterey. None of the victims were injured. Five suspects were involved in the robbery. The Monterey Police Department, along with members of PRVNT, the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team, have been actively working the investigation. As a result, three arrests have been made.
Here’s the story: On November 9, 2015 at approximately 8:39 PM, Monterey Police Officers responded to an armed robbery in the parking lot at Via Paraiso Park (near Via Paraiso and Via Gayuba). Three victims reported they were in their vehicle when five suspects approached them and demanded their personal property.
Several of the suspects were armed with handguns. After the suspects took property from the victims, they fled through the wooded area of the park toward Martin Street. The victims were not injured.
The following is a description of the five suspects:
Suspect 1: Black male, age 17-20, 5’-8”, thin build, wearing a dark shirt, and a bandana over his face.
Suspect 2: Black male, age 17-20, 5’-10”, thin build, wearing glasses, dark sweatshirt and dark jeans.
Suspect 3: White male, age 16-21, 5’-7”, thin build, wearing dark beanie, dark jeans.
Suspect 4: Black male, age 16-21, 6 ‘-0”, medium build, wearing a jacket, and a bandana over his face.
Suspect 5: Hispanic female, age 17-20, 5’-2”, heavyset, brown hair, light sweatshirt.
Arrested were the following:
Glenn Edwards, age 21, from Seaside. Edwards was already wanted on an outstanding warrant from a previous robbery case. His current charges include robbery, kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of minors, along with a gang enhancement and resisting arrest. On November 24, 2015, Edwards was arrested by members of PRVNT after a foot pursuit in Seaside near Broadway and Yosemite Streets. He was later booked into Monterey County Jail.
Female Juvenile, age 16, from Seaside. Her current charges include robbery and kidnapping.
Male Juvenile, age 15, from Seaside. His current charges include robbery and kidnapping.
