Pacific Grove flexed their muscles again for the second straight year in the Mission Trail Athletic League Championships. The Breakers had two wrestlers win their weight classes, and six more take runner-ups as they scored 144 team points to win the MTAL championship for the second consecutive season. [02-19-15]
Maybe a little bit of a shocker on how the tournament panned out, with the Breakers, Greenfield, and Soledad all heading into the tournament with a chance to take home the gold. Soledad only put up 78.5 team points and finished in fifth place, while Greenfield took third, with a team score of 112.5.
The top two wrestlers from each weight class move on to the CCS tournament, that will take place on February 27, and 28 at Independence High School, in San Jose.
The Breakers will have eight wrestlers in the CCS tournament: Tyler Hawes, Foster Smith, Orion Bautista, Liam Cunningham, Kacee Takasaki, Gone Tawdrouse, Jadon Philip, and Robert Wilkerson.
